Dialogues with D...part 2

Letting the devil to just be........

I have heard about and read about so much on the characteristics of the devil and the way he operates.....and its amazing how every religion is showing us the ways, means or techniques of how to deal with the devil............no one talks about just letting it be...........I know this might sound crazy or radical......and it's fine if that's how it occurs to you.........

We say that the devil Lies........but If one doesn't lie how will one value the Truth?

We say that the devil is Cunning but If one doesn't take on being cunning how can one value being Kind, Naive or Innocent?

We say that the devil is Deceitful but only by being deceitful can one value the power of being Honest or Frank.....

We say that the devil is Wicked but only when we take on being wicked do we understand the value of being Nice or being Good....

We say that the devil is Cowardly but only by being this way do we get the value of being Bold or Undaunted......

Well........looks like context has a critical role to play in all this..........In what context are the above things being done?

All these thoughts leave me with a question - Am I ready and committed to be generous enough to allow myself to BE with all the ways of being (like the few listed above) that we say is the ways of being of the devil so I can transcend them? And when I say be with them (i.e. the ways of being that we associate with the devil) I am not talking about fighting these ways of being, or combating them, or fixing them, or changing them or resisting them when it arises within ourselves or when we receive it from others.............I am talking about simply BEING with them when it arises within ourselves or when we receive it from others.................and I am talking about BEING with them with the sole intention of just BEING with them not with the intention of BEING with them so we can transcend them..........

Get it?.....read it again.........if you haven't...... :-)

Dialogues with D

In these blogs I have captured dialogues which ran and continues to run through my head at different points of time in my life....

Sometimes I think we need the Devil to exist just so that we can blame him/her. Well if the Devil didn't exist we wouldn't know the value of God or would we?

Keeping him (i.e. the Devil) as the context we get to see the value of God........this leads me to a crazy world of thinking that maybe the Devil should be acknowledged for his unique contribution to us........for helping us realize the value of God.

Maybe God created the Devil............to show us how great he/she (i.e. God) is!! Maybe all this is just a twisted plan by God to discipline humans into listening to the almighty.......

We associate God with all the good things and the Devil with all the bad things. We are taught to stay away from doing bad things............as we grow up.......we learn to resist people who indulge in bad things.

Maybe because we have been resisting the Devil or devilish behaviors for so long..............that's why they still exist..............maybe if we embrace all the wrong doings of human beings...........the Devil in us and the Devil in them will cease to exist.............because he/she has been acknowledged.

Maybe the Devil in all of us is just craving for attention..........craving for our love.........craving for us to embrace it.........without expecting anything in return......

There are two sides to each of us - the God & the Devil............And I believe our access to getting to the God within us is to keep embracing the Devil within us..........the more we do this with ourselves.....................the more we can do this with others..........

We can empower the God within us by embracing the Devil within us.........by acknowledging it..........

Somehow our society, all our folklore, most of our religious scriptures don't seem to drive this point home powerfully. Most of our religious books, scriptures, folklore state that you got to fight against the Devil, wage a war against it, condemn wrong doings, punish the sinners etc etc..........sounds like so much violence...............

when I read all this it looks like we have already brought out the Devil in us to kill the Devil in us......funny this is.............and this has been going on for centuries.

When I talk about embracing the Devil I am simply saying allow it to be...........

Yeah, but then there also comes a time when we keep resisting the Devil within us and within others that it becomes really difficult to just let it be so we can embrace it...........this happens........and then this requires a whole new level of love and compassion.......a level significantly higher from where we are now so the Devil can rest.

I know all this easy to say and tough to do.......that's what most of you must be saying......but the only thing I want to point out is that when you say it's tough to do it means you can do it..........you and I have the capacity do it..........it's possible...........yeah the journey may be painful......it may be hard.............but You and I can..............
